South African National Parks: Better bring your "proof of payment" for online bookings!
South African National Parks (SANParks) advises visitors to present their proof of payment (The confirmation letter serves as a proof of payment) for their online bookings at South Africa's National Parks. This request is because of system failures caused by the numerous load shedding incidents experienced in South Africa. The country is currently facing a massive energy crisis caused by sate-owned electricity public utility Eskom, which has revealed that unplanned breakdowns, diesel shortages, flooding at power stations and "wet coal" are responsible for the ongoing energy crisis in the country.

South Africa: Load shedding possible during 2010 World Cup
Eskom, South Africa's electricity public utility, just told the media that the company expects to be under pressure during the 2010 World Cup in the country. According to Fin24.co.za the state-owned utility "will regularly update South Africans on supply during the tournament, which starts June 11, and ask them to turn off some appliances if power runs low".
Under worst circumstances Eskom will ask South Africans to turn off everything but one TV and one light. No joke! That's what Fin24.co.za is reporting on their website!
