The largest intercity passenger transport service operating in Southern Africa, Intercape, is set to launch a new coach route between Durban in South Africa and Maputo in Mozambique. Effective 06 September 2019, the bus company will operate the new route on board a 60-seater luxury bus on Tuesdays, Thursdays as well as Sundays (Durban > Maputo) and on Fridays, Mondays and Wednesdays (Maputo > Durban). The total travel time between the two destinations will be 9.5 hrs. Popular stops along the way include Richards Bay, Hluhluwe, Kosi Bay and Ponta do Ouro. A 20 minute refreshment stop will be made at the Hluhluwe PetroPort in Hluhluwe (both directions).

South Africa: KwaZulu-Natal released new rhino poaching figures!
According to Ezemvelo KZN Wildlfe* spokesman Musa Mntambo, at least 193 rhinos have been killed in KwaZulu-Natal between 01 January 2017 and 29 September 2017. Although Ezemvelo KZN Wildlfe
does no longer provide a breakdown per protected area, conservation
sources assume that the vast majority of rhino killings are taking place
in KwaZulu-Natal's flagship Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park.
KwaZulu-Natal lost 162 rhinos to illegal poaching in 2016‚ 116 animals during 2015 and just 18 in 2008.

update (14 Sept 2017): According to MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Sihle Zikalala, the number of rhinos poached in KwaZulu-Natal now stands at 172 animals (Jan - Sept 2017).

Durban daytour: Hluhluwe Game Reserve Safari
Spend a day on safari in the magical Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve on the north coast of KwaZulu-Natal. The tour includes closed vehicle game drives throughout the day, and you have the option to take an open vehicle game drive at an additional cost, payable direct to the supplier on the day. Lunch is at the award winning Hilltop Camp, which has incredible views over the reserve.
