Easter 2019: Operating hours extended at some of South Africa's ports of entry!
South Africa's Department of Home Affairs (DHA) has announced that it will extend the operating hours at some of the country's border posts during the Easter 2019 holidays. In addition, the DHA will install temporary infrastructure to help with the faster processing of travellers and will increase capacity of staff deployed at the South Africa's ports of entry. An additional 237 staff members will be deployed at selected ports.

South Africa: Extended border times for Easter 2018!
South Africa's Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba has approved the extension of operational hours for selected ports of entry for Easter 2018. The extension of operational hours already commenced on 27 March 2018 and will run until 06 April 2018.

South Africa: Operating hours extended at selected ports of entry during festive season 2017/18!
South Africa's Department of Home Affairs (DHA) will be extending operating hours at selected ports of entry to avoid delays over the festive season (06 December 2017 - 16 January 2018). During the festive season, high volumes of people are usually recorded at South Africa's borders with its neighbouring countries.

South Africa: Mpumalanga borders open 24hrs for Easter weekend
As of 20 April, the border posts between South Africa, Mozambique and Swaziland will operate 24 hours a day in a bid to ease traffic congestion ahead of the upcoming Easter weekend.

Extra hours and additional staff would be added at the Lebombo border post into Mozambique and the Oshoek border post into Swaziland until 4 May. All the other ports of entry will extend their operational hours which will be from their normal operational times and extend to close at 12 midnight from 21 April to 2 May.

South Africa - Mozambique - Swaziland: Special border times for World Cup
The Border Control Operational Coordinating Committee in Mpumalanga will put in place extra measures to prevent possible congestion at the province's busiest ports of entry during the FIFA World Cup.
"These operational measures will be coordinated via the National Border Management Coordination Centre, which is already operational and deal with day-to-day port of entry operations," said the centre's provincial coordinator, Henson Msongweni.
He said various government departments had made arrangements with neighbouring countries such as Swaziland and Mozambique to implement measures that would ensure the quick processing of travellers at the various ports of entry in Mpumalanga.
"Mpumalanga has prioritised five key ports of entry for the event and we strongly encourage our travellers to utilise these ports," he said.
Both the Lebombo border post between Mpumalanga and Mozambique and the Oshoek border post to Swaziland are now open 24 hours daily until August 11, while the Mahamba border post to Swaziland will operate from 6am until midnight between June 1 and July 12. Mananga border post to Swaziland will be operational from 7am until 8pm between May 11 and August 11, and Jeppes Reef will be open from 7am until 10pm between June 15 and July 26.
"All ports of entry will clear people at their main buildings and infrastructure has been improved to deal with the possible spill of travellers," said Msongweni.
He added that the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport would be operational from 7am until 7pm from June 11, with only special flights being attended after closing time. - [src.: Eric Mashaba / BuaNews]
