Murchison Falls National Park (Uganda): Paraa ferry to temporarily close for maintenance!

According to East Africa specialist Wolfgang H. Thome, the Paraa Ferry in the Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda will be grounded for 12 days effective 08 May 2017 at 09:30 for general maintenance work. During this time, a technical team from the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) will service the ramps, pontoons, passenger decks, enginee and the transmission systems. UWA plans to resume operations on 20 May 2017 with a crossing at 17.00, but it is advised to check their website or else check the notices filed on their Facebook page.

The Paraa Ferry in the Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda will be grounded for 10 days effective 02 May 2016 at 9:30am for general maintenance work. During this time a technical team will attend to the entire ferry sections especially the ramps, pontoons, passenger decks and engines. The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) plans to resume operations on 11 May 2016 with a crossing at 17.00, but it is advised to either check the organization's announcements on their website or else check the notices filed on their Facebook page.

In case you are planning to use the Masindi-Paraa-Pakwach road (north <> south) through the Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda in the next couple of days, you should be aware that the Paraa ferry will be will be grounded from today (23 February 2015) until 25 February 2015 for routine checks and maintenance.
The Paraa vehicle ferry usually crosses the River Nile south-north and north-south at the following times: 7:00am, 9:00am, 11:00am, 12:00pm, 2:00pm, 4:00pm, 6:00pm, 7:00pm. Special crossings are offered at an additional fee in between these crossing times.
