Video: "eKasi to Constantia – a culinary journey from township to terroir"!

Cape Town Tourism has released a new short film. "eKasi to Constantia – a culinary journey from township to terroir" tells the story of a small restaurant from a township and its partnership with the oldest wine producing estate in South Africa.
Owned by South African chef and restaurateur Abigail Mbalo-Mokoena and founded in 2014, 4Roomed eKasi Culture in Khayelitsha is a restaurant specialized in modern interpretations of traditional South African dishes. Founded 329 years earlier, Groot Constantia Wine Estate in the suburb of Constantia in Cape Town is South Africa's oldest wine producing estate. The historical wine estate not only produces wine - it is also a heritage site that has a museum, two restaurants on site - the Jonkershuis Restaurant and Simon’s Restaurant - and offers wine cellar tours and wine tastings.

During a tour on the Red Bus, Abigail and Lila Jutzen, the Sales and Maketing Manager of Groot Constantia, met and immediately made plans to pair eKasis' contemporary South African dishes with the wines of South Africa's oldest wine producing estate to create a culinary experience that can only be found in Cape Town.

Cape Town Tourism released a new video about Khayelitsha! [update]

update (30 May 2020): Cape Town Tourism's "Welcome to Khayelitsha" was awarded second prize in the "Tourism Destination - City" category at the International Tourism Film Festival, Africa Awards (ITTF Africa)! Congratulations!

Cape Town Tourism has released a new video in which Cape Town's largest township, Khayelitsha, is getting portrayed. Located about 30 km south east of the city centre, just off the N2, the township is home to about 400.000 people. Khayelitsha is a vibrant township known for its entrepreneurial spirit and social development projects. The people are friendly and inviting and the area is rich in culture and diversity. Cape Town Tourism has now teamed up with several Khayelitsha neighbourhood ambassadors to curate four unique tourism routes that explore culture, nightlife, accommodation and adventure in the area. The former township is an historical centre of Cape Malay culture in Cape Town and has always been a multicultural area. another great tour in Cape Town: Cultural Cape Town - Langa and Khayelitsha

This cultural tour showcases some of the oldest monuments and historical sights in Cape Town. See Langa, the oldest formal township and the Gugulethu township. Visit the largest informal settlement - Khayelitsha, before popping in to a shebeen where you will meet and interact with the local community.
On this Cultural Tour you will visit Bo Kaap, also known as the Malay Quarter of Cape Town. Many of the inhabitants are decendants of people from Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India and Malaysia who were enslaved by the Dutch in the 17th and 18th centuries. The area is well known for the colorfully painted houses which line the steep and narrow streets.

Continue to Langa, the oldest formal township, before continuing to the Gugulethu township to view local crafters at work. Next you will visit Khayelitsha, South Africa's largest and fastest growing township, with it's vibrant culture and people. Visit a shebeen (tavern) and meet and interact with the local community.
Tours on a Sunday will include a visit to a church service in Langa.
