South African Airways launches flights to Lubumbashi (DR Congo)!

South African flag carrier, South African Airways (SAA), will introduce a new service to Lubumbashi, the second-largest city in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The airline is set to operate five weekly direct flights on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg and Lubumbashi International Airport (FBM) in Lubumbashi. Flights will depart Johannesburg at 10:50 and arrive in Lubumbashi at 13:20. The return flight will depart Lubumbashi at 14:10 and will arrive in Johannesburg at 17:50. The new service will commence on 01 November 2024.

Congo Airways to launch flights between Kinshasa <> Johannesburg!

The flag carrier of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Congo Airways, is set to launch flights between N'djili Airport (FIH) in Kinshasa and OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg. Effective 28 February 2018, the airline will operate three weekly flights using an Airbus A320-200, with 10 seats in business class and 150 in economy. The new service to Johannesburg marks Congo Airways' international debut!

"KONY 2012: Part II - Beyond Famous"

The US charity organisation Invisible Children has published a sequel of their video "KONY 2012". According to the organisation, the aim of "KONY 2012: Part II - Beyond Famous" is to turn the awareness that was raised through "KONY 2012" into informed action.
The 20min film is offers a closer look at Joseph Kony's Lord's Resistance Army, shows the international effort to bring their atrocities to an end and explores the solutions put forward by leaders of the currently-affected areas of the Central African Republic, DR Congo, and South Sudan.
