Visitors travelling to Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in late July 2026 should take note of temporary shop closures at the park's rest camps. The closures are part of SANParks' routine monthly stocktaking and will affect shopping hours on three separate days.
If you're planning a self-drive safari, it's a good idea to stock up on groceries, drinks, ice and other essentials before your camp's scheduled closure. A little planning will help ensure your trip continues without interruption.

Nossob Shop

Twee Rivieren Shop
30 July 2026
- Closed: 05:00–15:00
- Open: 15:00–18:15
Unlike Mata Mata and Nossob, the shop at Twee Rivieren will not open before the stocktake begins, making it the most significant closure of the three.
Tips for visitors
The shops at Kgalagadi's main rest camps stock a range of everyday items, including groceries, snacks, cold drinks, ice, basic camping supplies and souvenirs. While they are convenient for topping up provisions during your stay, availability can be limited, particularly during busy travel periods.
If you're staying at Twee Rivieren on 30 July 2026, consider buying everything you'll need the previous day, as the shop will remain closed until mid-afternoon. Visitors at Mata Mata and Nossob can still make purchases before 09:00 or after the shops reopen at 15:00.
These temporary closures are part of Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park's normal operations and should have little impact on your visit if you plan ahead. Once your supplies are sorted, you can get back to enjoying everything that makes Kgalagadi such a memorable safari destination—from its vast red dunes and iconic camel thorn trees to some of Southern Africa's best predator sightings.
