ACSA: OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg fully operational despite e-hailing driver protest!

Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has confirmed that operations at OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg are continuing without disruption. This follows a protest by e-hailing drivers on 10 July 2025, who temporarily halted services in response to the impounding of their vehicles and what they describe as an "unfair and overly lengthy" permit application process.
While some e-hailing services were suspended during the demonstration, ACSA has assured travellers that the airport remains fully operational. All flight operations and airport services are functioning as normal.

ACSA' security team  is actively collaborating with the South African Police Service (SAPS) to ensure a safe environment and smooth travel experience for all passengers and airport users.

Travellers departing from OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) are reminded to:

  • Arrive at least 2 hours before domestic departures
  • Arrive at least 3 hours before international departures
