Namibia: Eros Airport (ERS) runway gets a makeover!

The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) has announced that work to restore and improve the runway of Eros Airport (ERS) in Windhoek ("Eros Airport Runway Holding Action Project") kicked off last week. The renovations will not interfere with the airport's daily operations and will be conducted after operational hours. The project, which costs an estimated N$23 million, is expected to be completed by first week of October 2020. Works include the mill and replacement on the runway to address the bumpy runway and potholes which has developed over the years. This remedial works is intended as a short-term solution, which will carry the runway for about two to three years. Due to limited resources, the full-scale rehabilitation of the runway, taxiways and apron, which is estimated to cost about N$300 Million, is currently not feasible.

Eros Airport (ERS) is located situated 5 km from south of
Windhoek's central business district. As a a busy hub of general aviation and some commercial aviation, the airport is one of the busiest airports in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.
