update (06 May 2020): LAM - Mozambique Airlines will launch the service between Pemba and Johannesburg on 26 October 2020.
The flag carrier of Mozambique, LAM - Mozambique Airlines, is set to launch a direct service between Pemba Airport (POL) in the port city of Pemba in northern Mozambique and OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg. Effective 30 March 2020, the airline will operate three weekly return flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to Johannesburg. Flights will depart Pemba at 09:40 and will arrive Johannesburg at 12:20, while the return flight will depart Johannesburg at 13:00 and will arrive in Pemba at 15:40. South African regional carrier Airlink is currently the only airline operating scheduled direct flights between Pemba and Johannesburg.
