Qatar Airways to launch non-stop flights to Cape Town

update (11 Nov 2014): Qatar Airways will reduce flights between Hamad International Airport (IATA: DOH) in Doha and Cape Town International Airport (IATA: CPT) in Cape Town during the Northern Summer 2015 season (01 May 2015 to 23 October 2015) from five to three flights per week. The overall capacity remains an increase, when comparing to one-stop service via Johannesburg during Northern Summer 2014 season.

The flag carrier of Qatar, Qatar Airways, has announced that it will introduce a new direct service to Cape Town. From 03 November 2014 the airline will operate five non-stop flights on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays between Hamad International Airport (IATA: DOH) in Doha and Cape Town International Airport (IATA: CPT) in Cape Town. The route will be operated by Qatar Airways' Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft which features 22 seats in Business Class and 232 seats in Economy Class, with the latest interactive inflight entertainment system featuring over 1000 options available in all cabin classes. Qatar Airways currently operates three flights per week via OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg to Cape Town.

Non-stop DOHA to/from CAPE TOWN: (all times local):
  • QR 1369 departs Doha (DOH) at 01:25; arrives Cape Town (CPT) at 10:15
  • QR 1370 departs Cape Town (CPT) at 12:45; arrives Doha (DOH) at 23:30
