The resort town of Umhlanga, located just north of Durban, has unveiled its own free WiFi network. The Umhlanga WiFi connection project offers tourists and locals free access to the internet and covers the area from Chartwell Drive to Lighthouse Drive. The famous Umhlanga Village is also part of the coverage. According to the Chairman of Umhlanga Tourism Peter Rose, beachgoers in Umhlanga will also be able to use the free WiFi network by December 2014.
Umhlanga is not the only area in Durban to offer free WiFi. Florida Road in Morningside, known for its cafes, restaurants, pubs and nightclubs, already offers visitors free access to its WiFi network since June 2014.
