Remember to cook the bredie, which is an old Cape name for a dish of meat and vegetables stewed together, slowly for at least 2.5 hrs. The flavour will also improve if made a day in advance. Serve it with rice. Kudos @ Gabi Le Roux for the video and recipe!

- 1kg assorted pieces of chicken (skin on)
- 3 large potatoes
- 6 tomatoes
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 2 (large) onions
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp chilli flakes (to your taste)
- freshly ground pepper
- salt
- mixed (italian) herbs
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 chicken stock gel pot
- 1 tbs butter
- tomato paste
- 2 tbs cooking oil
- 1.5 cups of water
