South African regional carrier Airlink has canceled its service between OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg, South Africa, and Entebbe International Airport (EBB) in Entebbe, Uganda, at the end of August 2023. According to the airline, it discontinued the route due to persistent commercial unviability. Airlink has contacted ticket-holders and is offering to refund in full or re-route on one of its daily flights between Johannesburg and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi with onward connections to Entebbe.
Uganda's national carrier, Uganda Airlines, will close the gap by increasing frequency on the Entebbe <> Johannesburg route from five weekly flights to daily starting 01 October 2023.
