What's the opportunity?
Big Beyond Pioneers offers enthusiastic and adventurous volunteers the incredible opportunity to live and work next to the vibrant African jungle of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the far southwest corner of Uganda and help the local Bwindi Community and ancient Pygmy Batwa Tribe. It’s an incredible place where families of one of the world’s most endangered primates - the incredible Mountain Gorillas will become your neighbours. Green, lush, mountainous and remote, it’s not the dry dusty Africa some know and you’ll be travelling away from the masses to somewhere you’ll really enjoy living.

What will I be doing?
As a volunteer you will work across a range of exciting projects. All of Big Beyond Pioneers' Uganda based projects are aimed at tackling conservation and development goals of the local Bwindi area and are led by local community groups. Our volunteers can choose to build their skills in a particular field or alternatively work across a number of skills in a chosen project category. They then liaise with you to customise your placement appropriate to your particular skills and interests, as well as the needs of the local community at that time. Their current volunteer placements in Uganda include, but are not limited to: Community Enterprise, Health and Wellbeing, Cultures of Bwindi, Events Management, Marketing, Arts and Drama, Community Research and Mapping, Sports and Fitness, Community Farming, Teaching, Wildlife and Environment and Bwindi Kids and Rural Schools. The local community where Big Beyond Pioneers work are trying to build pride in the protection of Bwindi by benefitting from its conservation through income, quality education, improved agricultural practices and in general, promoting better and more enjoyable ways of life.
