Nearly 200 rhinos killed in the first six month of 2011 in South Africa
According to WWF International, South Africa lost 193 rhinos in the first six months of the year 2011, with 126 of them killed in Kruger National Park. South African authorities have made 123 arrests so far, with six convictions, for poaching in 2011, adding to last year’s 165 arrests and four convictions, the conservation group said. Swaziland, which borders Mozambique and South Africa, lost its first rhino to poaching in almost 20 years in June 2011.
