Durban's Black Mamba Backpackers is situated in the middle of The Valley of a Thousand Hills Meander that has the most tranquil and relaxing surroundings with beautiful views of Bothas Hill.
Literally on a hill on a crest someway above Durban; Hillcrest was once a little hamlet that bordered on the Valley of a Thousand Hills, surrounded by green pastures and farmland. It was a retreat away from the hub of the city, somewhere one could escape to cooler air and guaranteed peace and quiet.
They have a rustic bar, Jacuzzi and Internet (in the bar area), hammocks, swimming pool and pool, raised and sleeper tents, cosy African doubles and dorms, open air showers and a garden.
Btw - they are also offering a free airport pickup!

South Africa: Motorists can pay for fuel by credit card
Petrol stations in South Africa are compelled to accept cards, such as credit and debit cards, for fuel payments, the department of energy said on Thursday. The new regulations take effect on Friday (today!) and are expected to reduce the number of robberies that take place at petrol stations.
Another motivating factor behind the new regulations is the 2010 World Cup and the influx of foreigners coming to the country who do not want to carry cash around all the time. [src.]
Just keep in mind that not all not all petrol stations were immediately equipped to handle card payments.

The Times - Johannesburg's 10 most irritating driver habits

What makes your blood boil while driving in the City of Gold? The Times Online lists 10 irritating (and dangerous) South African driver habits.
- Reversing along the highway’s emergency lane after missing an off-ramp.
- Ignoring the ’four-way stop rule’ when traffic lights aren’t working.
- Drivers who perform U-turns on the highway (crossing the middle strip and turning into the fast-lane in the opposite direction) to avoid traffic jams. Shared via AddThis
