South African National Parks (SANParks) has announced that the Colchester area, including the Matyholweni Rest Camp, in Addo Elephant National Park is experiencing water supply issues. Water will be trucked in from Addo Main Camp to supply to most facilities/units in the camp. Please note that this is an municipal issue and SANParks is doing all it can to assist until issue is resolved. We'll keep you posted!
The Matyholweni Rest Camp is located near the coastal town of Colchester at the Sundays River Mouth and is the quickest gateway into Addo Elephant National Park from Gqeberha (previously Port Elizabeth). Amenities such as shops, restaurants and a fuel station are available in Colchester. Matyholweni Rest Camp has 12 accommodation units - three of these units sleep three people and the rest can only sleep two persons. Two units are adapted for wheelchair users.
