update (13 Dec 2013): The Golden Rhino restaurant situated in Mapungubwe National Park and World Heritage Site will operate under new hours from today (13 Dec 2013). The new hours will now be 08:00 - 20:00 instead of 08:00 - 16:00.
South African National Parks (SANParks) issued a press release earlier today to dismiss rumours about the closure of Mapungubwe restaurant in the Mapungubwe National Park and World Heritage Site. The restaurant is open, only the operators changed. The Mapungubwe restaurant is licensed and has a comprehensive breakfast and light lunch menu on offer. Pre-prepared dinners are available if ordered prior to 14:00 and collected before 16:00. The operating hours are daily from 08h00 to 16h00.
The 28,000ha Mapungubwe National Park, located in Limpopo, is bordering Botswana and Zimbabwe. Together with the Northern Tuli Game Reserve in Botswana and the Tuli Safari Circle in Zimbabwe, it forms part of the Greater Mapungubwe Transfrontier Conservation Area.
