South Africa: 135 rhinos lost to poaching

South Africa's Department of Environmental Affairs has published the latest statistics on rhino poaching in South Africa. According to the Department, to date (19 March 2012) a total of 135 rhinos have been killed for the illegal trade in rhino horn in South Africa.
The Kruger National Park continues to be the hardest hit victim of rhino poaching in South Africa - 75 rhinos have been lost to poaching in the park. Since January 2012, 89 poachers (20 in Kruger) have been arrested and others have already been sentenced are serving prison terms.
