South Africa: The first edition of "Museum Night Johannesburg" to take place in September 2019!

The very first edition of "Museum Night in Johannesburg" is set to take place in Johannesburg in September 2019. On Thursday, 19 September 2019, six museums from all over the city will be open from 17:00 until 22:00, offering free admission to the public. Each museum has a primary programme of current exhibitions, supported by a secondary programme of workshops, performances, talks and other activities. The programme of the "Museum Night in Johannesburg" is spread out, so it is recommended to focus on just one or two sites, and make use of public or private transport to get around.



The participating museums include:
  • Apartheid Museum
  • Constitution Hill
  • Johannesburg Art Gallery
  • Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre
  • WITS Art Museum
  • The Origins Centre (WITS)

Cape Town: The Museum Night returns to the V&A Waterfront!

Cape Town's Museum Night is back. On Thursday, 27 June 2019, several museums and sites at the V&A Waterfront will be open from 17:00 until 22:00, offering free admission to the public, with a number of other attractions offering half price admission. Together with the curatorial staff of the participating museums and institutions, an exciting programme of performances, walkabouts, talks, activities and more has been put together. The participating museums and institutions include:
  • Iziko Maritime Centre
  • Chavonnes Battery Museum
  • Cape Medical Museum
  • Robben Island Jetty 1 Museum
  • Nelson Mandela Gateway
  • Circa Gallery & Everard Read
  • Two Oceans Aquarium (half price)
  • Zeitz MOCAA (half price)

Cape Town's Museum Night is back. On Thursday, 27 September 2018, several museums and sites at the V&A Waterfront will be open from 17:00 until 22:00, offering free admission to the public, with a number of other attractions offering half price admission. The museum exhibitions are supported by an exciting programme of performances and walkabouts. You don't require tickets for Museum Night. Just arrive at the V&A Waterfront, decide on where you would like to start, and use the printed programmes available to find your way around from there. The programme of the upcoming Museum Night will be announced soon. We'll keep you posted!

Cape Town: Museum Night returns to the V&A Waterfront in October 2017!

The second edition of the Museum Night V&A Waterfront for 2017 will take place at Cape Town's V&A Waterfront on 25 October 2017. The museums at the V&A Waterfront, including the much-anticipated Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA), will be open from 17:00 until 22:00.

Most museum sites will be offering free admission to the public, with a number of other attractions offering half price admission. The museum exhibitions are supported by an exciting programme of artistic performances and walkabouts. More information on the programme will be made available in the lead up to the event. Cape Town: Museum Night returns to the V&A Waterfront!

The Museum Night returns to Cape Town's V&A Waterfront with two editions in 2017. The first event will take place on 28 June 2017; the second Museum Night will follow later in the year. The museums at the V&A Waterfront will be open from 17:00 until 22:00. Most museum sites offer free admission to the public, with the Two Oceans Aquarium offering half price tickets on the night.


 

The participating museums include Chavonnes Battery Museum, Robben Island Jetty Museum, Iziko Maritime Centre, and the Springbok Experience Rugby Museum,
amongst other sites. The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA), which opens to the public in September 2017, will host a programme outside the museum building. More information will be made available closer to the event - we'll keep you posted!
