Angola: More than 2.600 ATMs now accept MasterCard!

The operator of Angola's only interbank network, Empresa Interbancária de Serviços (EMIS), and American multinational financial services corporation MasterCard have formed a new partnership that sees all of EMIS' 2.600+ Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) in Angola accept MasterCard debit, credit and prepaid cards. Prior to the partnership, which came into effect today (26 Nov 2014), MasterCard cardholders could only access funds at 65 ATMs in Angola.

Johannesburg will be Africa's second most visited city in 2012

According to the MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index 2012, Johannesburg will be Africa's second most visited city this year with an expected 2.5-million international visitors. Johannesburg is also rated as the African city that tourists will spend the most money in. An estimated US$3.3-billion will be injected through visitors into the city's economy, marking an increase of 8.1% on the 2011 figures. Johannesburg will furthermore be the most visited city in sub-Saharan Africa.
Nairobi (Kenya), ranked third in the African ranking (1.8 Mio visitors), will be the second-most visited city in sub-Saharan Africa. Visitors in Nairobi are expected to spend an estimated US$1.5-billion in the city, so that the Kenyan capital is ranked 4th in that category among the African cities and second in sub-Saharan Africa in 2012.
Durban will be the fastest growing city in Africa in terms of visitor numbers and is predicted to be the second fastest growing city in the MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index 2012.

The MasterCard Index of Global Destination Cities is an annual research program that describes and analyzes the global network of 132 destination cities and how they are connected through cross-border air travel and associated expenditures.
