Aquila Private Game Reserve welcomes a new rhino bull!

The Aquila Private Game Reserve, a 7500 hectare big 5-conservancy located in the southern Karoo and only about 2hrs from Cape Town, has just taken delivery of an 8 year old rhino bull. After a horrific poaching incident in 2011 the reserve was left with no male rhino to continue the breeding progression, which can now hopefully be continued. The bull was purchased from the Limpopo area after his owners discovered signs of the rhino being tracked by poachers. According to Aquila Private Game Reserve the new rhino made first contact with the existing rhino herd within hours of release on the reserve. Awesome!

Aquila's previous only male rhino, Absa, which was one of the two rhinos killed in the poaching incident in 2011, was the first rhino to be reintroduced to the Western Cape in over 250 years.
