Etihad Airways, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates, launched direct flights between its main hub in Abu Dhabi and the Kenyan capital Nairobi on 01 April 2012.
Etihad Airways is operating daily services on an A320 aircraft in a two class configuration (16 Pearl Business class and 120 Coral Economy class seats), joining Gulf Air, Qatar Airways and Emirates on the route.
Nairobi is the first hub in East Africa for Etihad Airways and the 72nd worldwide.
Etihad Airways will also reach into West Africa with the introduction of flights to Lagos in Nigeria in July 2012. The airline commenced operations to the Seychelles in November 2011, and Libya in January 2012, building on existing services to Egypt, South Africa, Morocco and Sudan.
