South African National Parks Week 2020: Some National Parks will implement daily quotas at the gates!

South African National Parks (SANParks), is hosting the 15th annual SA National Parks Week from 16 to 20 November 2020. The South African National Parks Week grants South African day visitors free access to most of the National Parks in South Africa, with special emphasis on ensuring that people from local communities close to parks get to know and experience a national park. Like in the previous years, free entry excludes Namaqua National Park as well as Boulders Penguin Colony and the Table Mountain Cableway in Table Mountain National Park. It should be noted that free access to the National Parks does not in include free access to accommodation facilities and other tourist activities. Some National Parks will implement daily quotas at the gates throughout the week.

Augrabies Falls National Park:

  • Dates: 16 to 20 November 2020
  • Visitor Quotas:
    • Augrabies Falls Main Entrance Gate (to view the Falls) - 250 guests per day
    • Augrabies Falls Day Visitor’s Area (Swimming & Braai area) - 50 guests per day

Bontebok National Park:

  • Dates: 16 to 22 November 2020
  • Visitor Quotas:
    • Main Entrance Gate - 120 guests per day

Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park:

  • Dates: 16 to 20 November 2020
  • Gate quotas will be applicable during SA National Parks Week: 20 vehicles per Gate, per day.

Kruger National Park:

Table Mountain National Park:

Free entry excludes Boulders Penguin Colony and the Table Mountain Cableway)

  • Dates: 16 to 22 November 2020
  • Cape of Good Hope section's total capacity - 2500.
  • No more than 500 people will be allowed to gather at any of the open air destinations such as picnic sites at any given time i.e. 500max people at Buffelsbay, 500max people at Bordjiesrif, etc.
  • Oudekraal Picnic and Braai Site - 250 guests max at any given time.
  • Newlands Picnic and Braai Area - 350 guests max at any given time.
  • Tokai Picnic and Braai Area - 250 guests max at any given time.
  • Silvermine Picnic and Braai Area - no quota in place but the gate is closed once the pay-point parking area has reached capacity
