What is Voluntourism?

I just came across a very good and interesting infosheet answering the question what "Voluntourism" actually is. It also gives a short insight into the "economics of voluntourism".

To sum it up the infosheet is defining Voluntourism as follows: "Volutourism is travel which includes volunteering for a charitable cause. In recent years "bite-sized" volunteer vacations have grown in popularity. the different types of volunteer vacations are diverse, from cleaning up local wildlife areas to providing medical aid in a foreign country."
