Lesotho: Mohahlaula Airlines to launch a new regional airline within the next year! [update]

update (03 May 2023):  According to Mohahlaula Airlines, regular scheduled operations between Moshoeshoe I International Airport (MSU) in Maseru and OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg, South Africa, will be launched between end of Q3 and beginning of Q4. We'll keep you posted!

Mohahlaula Airlines, one of two Lesotho companies holding an airline operating certificate (AOC), has announced plans to launch a local Lesotho airline within the next year. The new airline will initially operate flights between Moshoeshoe I International Airport (MSU) in Maseru and OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg, South Africa. Mohahlaula Airlines also has plans to extend its network to other destinations in South Africa once operations have been succesfully launched. At this stage it is planned that the airline will operate three Embraer ERJ145 aircraft (50 passengers). During the past two years, Mohahlaula Airlines has been operating a private charter and cargo flights in and out of Maseru. We'll keep you posted!

Lesotho: Mohahlaula Airlines to operate on a charter and once-off scheduled flight basis from November 2020!

Lesotho's only scheduled airline, Mohahlaula Airlines, just announced that it will be operating on a charter and once-off scheduled flight basis both domestically and regionally from 01 November 2020 until further notice. All once-off flights will be advertised in advance. To guarantee departures of all flights Mohahlaula Airlines urges its customers to book in advance.
The airline started domestic flights in Lesotho in September 2020. Mohahlaula Airlines' fleet currently consists of one Cessna 208B Grand Caravan, which seats 12 customers with a 15 kg carry on luggage capacity available in the cargo pod.

Lesotho: Mohahlaula Airlines set to launch domestic flights!

The Government of Lesotho has relaxed the national Covid-19 control levels and now allows inter-district travel for work and leisure, so that the country's only scheduled airline, Mohahlaula Airlines, is finally able to launch scheduled domestic operations. Tickets will go on sale on 01 September 2020 and operations are set to start from 21 September 2020, although the airline has not yet released an exact schedule.
Mohahlaula Airlines' maiden flight was initially planned to take place on 03 April 2020, but due to the coronavirus pandemic the airline announced on 25 March 2020 the delaying of the launch date "until it is deemded safe to operate". As of March 2020, Mohahlaula Airlines planned to operate domestic flights between Maseru <> Mokhotlong,
Maseru <> Qacha's Nek and Maseru <> Semonkong on board a Cessna C208B Grand Caravan and a Beech King Air 200. We'll keep you updated!
