update (31 Aug 2012): Marakele National Park (MNP), located in the heart of the Waterberg Mountains in Limpopo, has announced that it will be extending the South African National Parks (SANParks) Week until Sunday, 16 September 2012.
South African National Parks (SANParks) has announced that the 2012 South African National Parks Week will be between 10-14 September 2012. During the four days, all South Africans day visitors are having free access to almost all South African National Parks managed by SANParks. The only two exception are Boulders in the Table Mountain National Park and the Namaqua National Park.
Cape Town's Table Mountain National Park will extend the South African National Parks Week until 15 September 2012 whilst Tankwa Karoo National Park and Bontebok National Park will extend the week to 16 September 2012. The free access to the parks does not include any commercial activities in the parks such as guided safaris in vehicles or guided walks, etc..
