The baboons and lesser flamingos at Lake Bogoria, a protected National Reserve in Kenya, are usually living in harmony and are sharing everything the landscape has to offer. But in July, after a succesfull breeding season, the shores of the lake are home to one of the world's largest populations of flamingos. Hectic times for the baboons being surrounded by hundreds of thousands of birds in pinkish white. As a matter of fact, some of the baboons, which are actually quite opportunistic omnivores, are starting to look at the flamingos in a different way...

Cape Town: Feeding of baboons illegal anywhere in the Cape Peninsula
The Western Cape government gazetted an new regulation which is making it illegal to feed baboons in any private or public space. The previous law only made it illegal to feed baboons along roads.
Please keep that in mind when visiting the Cape Town and surroundings and please always make sure that you are not getting baboon-jacked. The baboons of the region have come under threat as urbanisation has reduced their natural habitat and brought them into conflict with humans.
