The adidas Jabulani is the official football of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ in South Africa. Jabulani, meaning "to celebrate" in isiZulu, is the 11th edition of adidas's FIFA World Cup balls. The 11 colours (acutally 11 lines in 11 different colours) on the ball represent the 11 official South African languages and the 11 major ethnic group of the country as well as each team player on the pitch of a football match.

French Football team will be based in Knysna during the 2010 World Cup
The French national football team will be based at Pezula Resort Hotel & Spa in Knysna during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The resort has its own private multi-sports field which the team can utilise for practices. The complex is set on a stunning 1,000 ha estate and is known for its secluded beach, sweeping fynbos landscapes and ancient indigenous forests.

Directions from Cape Town (±500 kms /311 miles) Take the N2 from Cape Town to Knysna passing Somerset West, Caledon, Swellendam, Albertinia, Mossel Bay and George.

2010 World Cup - ticket sales in numbers UPDATE
The third ticketing sales of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ has hit the 500 000 mark within the first ten days.
The current third Ticket Sales Phase will run until 22 January 2010.
In total, about one million tickets for all 64 matches and categories are made available in the third sales phase including a limited number for the opening match and the final.
All applications within the sales phase will be treated equally. In an event of over-subscribed matches or price categories, there will be an electronic random selection draw on 1 February 2010.

- USA - 22 942 tickets
- UK - 20 232 tickets
- Mexico - 7 981 tickets
- Germany - 7 697 tickets
- Australia - 6 277 ticktets
- Brazil - 4 760 tickets
- the remaining 44 348 tickets were bought from fans from around the world.

2010 World Cup™ - Ticket sales in numbers
So far a total of 674,403 World Cup 2010™ tickets have been sold. 53.6% of those tickets have been sold to South African residents. Football fans from the US purchased 84,103 tickets up to now, followed by the UK (48,388 tickets), Germany (25,112 tickets), Australia (17,876 tickets), Canada (11,662), Switzerland (11,045 tickets), Japan (10,558 tickets) and Brazil with 8,006 tickets. 90% of the tickets made available to date are sold!

Fans will have to apply within 49 days (until 22 January 2010) for individual match tickets or Team-Specific Series.

Japan's headquarter during the 2010 World Cup™ in South Africa
Japan's national team will be based at the Fancourt Hotel & Country Club Estate in George during the 2010 World Cup™. With the majestic Outeniqua Mountains as its backdrop, Fancourt has 3 specifically designed golf courses and the only Taylor Made Performance Lab in the whole of Africa.
Japan's practice pitch is going to be the Outeniqua Park stadium just about 5km east of the hotel.

According to some news reports the Fancourt Hotel was chosen by the Japanese National Football Association because Japan's Ai Miyazato and Rui Kitada won the inaugural women's World Cup of Golf in 2005 hosted by Fancourt.

The base of the Dutch national team will be the luxurious Hilton Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg's poshest & richest suburb. The team will train at at Wits University, 15km south of the hotel.
How to get there?
From the airport, take the R24 Johannesburg highway and turn at NI2/N3 North highway turn off at Marlboro Road. At the traffic light, turn left and continue to the "Shell" petrol/gas station on your left. Turn right into South Road and continue to the T-Junction. Turn left into Rivonia Road and pass the Southern Sun Grayston Hotel on your left. The Hilton Sandton hotel is on your left.

2010 World Cup™ - FIFA Fan Fests in South Africa & around the World
The FIFA Fan Fest, or the official public viewing events, will allow football enthusiasts to watch all 64 matches free in some of the most iconic locations in South Africa and around the world.
FIFA announced on Monday that all nine South African Host Cities as well as Berlin, London, Mexico City, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Rome and Sydney will be used as official public viewing events of football's flagship tournament.

2010 World Cup™ stadiums - Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban
Durban's new "Moses Mabhida Stadium" was built on the site of the old Kings Park Stadium adjacent to the ABSA Stadium and the Durban street circuit used for the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport. It is somehow the new heart of the Kings Park Sporting Precinct. The 70,000-seater has been specifically designed as a multi-purpose venue and an amphitheatre complete with a cable car which ascends to a viewing platform at the top of the expansive 350m arch, a staggering 106m above the pitch.
The Stadium is named after Moses Mabhida (14 October 1923 – ?? March 1986), who was a South African politician and leader of the South African Communist Party (SACP) from 1978 until his death in 1985.

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2010 World Cup™ in South Africa just announced some more stats:

update (16 Nov 09): 668 525 tickets have been sold so far. 356 285 of those in the south Africa - US (84 034), UK (48 274) and Germany (25 024).
2010 World Cup ticket sales phases: We are currently in the 2nd sales which is ending at the 16 Nov 2009. During this phase all tickets will be attributed based on the order in which the application was received, and, of course, subject to availability. The 3rd sales phase is starting at the 5 Dec 2009, a day after the final draw in Cape Town and will last to the 22 Jan 2010. All correctly submitted applications received during this stage will be considered for allocation. If the number of applications for Match or Team Specific tickets exceeds the number of tickets available, tickets will be allocated by a random selection draw taking place on 1 February 2010. Please note: it makes no difference whether you apply early, on 5 December 2009, or late, on 22 January 2010. Each correctly submitted application will have the same opportunity of being successful in the draw.

2010 World Cup™ stadiums - Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria / Tshwane
Pretoria's Loftus Versfeld Stadium is one of the oldes stadiums in Southern Africa being used for major sporting events since 1903. The stadium got its first concrete structure, which could accommodate only 2,000 spectators, already in 1923. Located close to the heart of the city the venue is used for both rugby and football matches and is home to one of the country's top rugby teams, the Blue Bulls.
Minimal upgrading was undertaken in order for Loftus Versfeld to qualify as a venue for first and second round matches for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.

2010 World Cup™ stadiums - Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein / Mangaung
Bloemfontein (Afrikaans for "fountain of flowers") is the capital city of the Free State Province of South Africa as well as one of the nation's three capitals (the judicial capital). The city's Sesotho name is Mangaung, meaning "place of cheetahs"; Bloemfontein became part of the Mangaung Local Municipality already in 2000. Don't get confused by the names - FIFA seems to use both names.
Free State Stadium, also known as "Vodacom Park", is home to the Free State Cheetahs, which participate in South Africa's domestic rugby competition, the Currie Cup, to the Central Cheetahs, which represents Free State and Northern Cape Provinces in the Rugby Super 14 and to Bloemfontein Celtic, who play in the Premier Soccer League. For the 2010 World Cup™ the stadium got upgraded from a capacity of 38,000 to 45,000.

South Africa: Cape Town's new departures terminal to open on Saturday
The old departures terminal will close this week. It is going to become the new airside section of the domestic arrivals terminal by March 2010. The domestic departures tent which is currently used will get removed by mid-December 2009.
From March 2010 on both domestic and international arrivals will be linked to the new central terminal building.
Located near the current International Terminal, a 5-storey parkade will increase the airport’s parking by 4000 bays upon its completion. The 1st and 2nd floors will be made available in December 2009, while the 3rd and 4th floors are coming on stream in January 2010 and completion of the parkade earmarked for March 2010.
The growth of the airport has necessitated the separation of arriving and departing vehicular traffic. For this reason, an upper roadway, similar to O.R.Tambo international Airport (ORTIA), has been constructed. This roadway will see all drop off’s on the upper roadway, with all collections for shuttles and metered taxis at the ground level and all pick-ups for the general public located along the central boulevard.
What to expect when the Departures portion of the Central Terminal Building opens?

- A common check-in area for departing domestic and international pax on the second floor with 120 check-in desks and 20 self-service kiosks.
- In-transit passengers will not need to move from one terminal to another anymore.
- A central security screening point for all departing pax.
- The domestic departure hall is now about 200m long
- Five new air bridges for domestic departures
- A new automated baggage-sorting system which will process up to 3000 bags per hour
- 30 shops and restaurants occupying a total of 1 080sqm
- A viewing deck and restaurants on the mezzanine level.
- If you’re meeting a person at the aiport, proceed to the current international or domestic arrival terminals.
- The route for domestic car hire has changed. When returning to drop off your vehicle, make use of the current drop-off road called Central Boulevard to return your car. Look for the directional signage. This is a temporary inconvenience until March 2010.
- Domestic flights: arrive at least 1hrs30 before departure
- International flights:arrive at least 2hs30 before departure.
