Cape Town: Cape Town International Airport (CPT) to receive a facelift! [update]

update (08 April 2019): The construction is set to start in February 2020 and will last until 2025. The upgrade will include the realignment of the runway (due for completion in 2022), the simultaneous construction of a new domestic arrivals terminal and the redevelopment of the international departures terminal by 2025.

Cape Town International Airport (CPT) in Cape Town is set to undergo a R7 billion facelift to meet growing demand at the airport. The project will start in early 2020 and is expected to be completed by 2023. According to an Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) presentation, the expansion will include a new 3,500 metre runway, and new international and domestic departure lounges. ACSA will take precautions to limit the disruption and impact on passengers and to ensure that flights can still depart and land as the construction goes ahead. We'll keep you posted!
