The organisers of the Absa Cape Epic, routinely referred to as "the Tour de France of mountain biking", have just released the official 2015 route video. The race will last eight days (15 - 22 March 2015) and will cover 739km with 16 000m of climbing. It starts from the University of Cape Town in Cape Town with stops in Elgin, Worcester and Wellington before the race ends at the Meerendal Wine Estate in Durbanville.
The Absa Cape Epic is an annual mountain bike stage race held in the Western Cape. It has been accredited as horst categorie (beyond categorisation) by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).

National Geographic Wild: Red Hartebeest vs. Cyclist
Do you remember that collision at Albert Falls Dam in KwaZulu Natal in which mountain biker Evan van der Spuy got taken out by a Red Hartebeest?
A team from TV channel Nat Geo Wild's series "Caught in the Act" spoke with Evan, his friend Travis Walker, who filmed the accident with his gopro-camera, and a zoologist from the Johannesburg Zoo, who is trying to explain why the Hartebeest took Evan out.
The full interviews, as well as the video footage of the collision, will get aired in the US on 17 April 2012 (Caught in the Act: Psycho). Watch the video below for some extracts from the show.

Video: Mountain Biker gets taken out by a red wildebeest... only in Africa
South African mountain biker Evan van der Spuy was competing in the Time Freight MTB Express at Albert Falls Dam in KwaZulu Natal when, out of nowhere, a red wildebeest attacked him in full speed from the side. And all got filmed with a gopro-camera...
The mountain biker wasn't injured in the accident, although his helmet got badly damaged. No reports on the buck so far, but I reckon it won't be doing it again...
