Western Cape: The Whale Trail is closed from January to September 2019!

The famous Whale Trail, a 5-day hiking trail that stretches over 55km from Potberg to Koppie Alleen in the De Hoop Nature Reserve, is currently closed for scheduled maintenance work. According to CapeNature, the public institution with the statutory responsibility for biodiversity conservation in South Africa's Western Cape, the trail is expected to reopen on 01 October 2019.
The De Hoop Nature Reserve, located just three hours from Cape Town, is one of the largest natural areas managed by CapeNature. The Reserve, which has the size of 34 000ha, is a favourite for hikers, cyclists, and bird and whale watchers.
