International Volunteer Day (05 Dec 2009)

International Volunteer Day (IVD) at the 05 Dec 2009is an international observance designated by the United Nations since 1985. The declared aim of this day is to thank the volunteers for their efforts and increase public awareness on their contribution to society. The International Volunteer Day is marked by most non-governmental organizations throughout the World.

The song is a cover version of Midnight Oil's "Beds Are Burning" (featuring Lily Allen, Jamie Cullum, Mamadou et Maraim, Youssou N'Dour, Fires of Rome, Desmond Tutu and many more - 55 in total!!!) specially recorded for the Kofi Annan-led Tck Tck Tck Campaign. The campaign is fighting to demand climate justice from world leaders at the UN Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen (Dec 07 - Dec 18 2009). Climate change is, quite obviously, one of our world's most critical problems, and this collaboration is to serve as a musical petition to world leaders to act on the issue.
