East London: One of the city's most popular beaches is temporarily closed!

The Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality in South Africa's Eastern Cape has temporarily closed one of the most popular and most central beaches in East London. According to the Municipality, parts of the Eastern Beach have been washed away leaving exposed rocks. This is an imminent danger to bathers and forming dangerous rip currents. Parts of the road and pavement have also been eroded.

Eastern Beach is located in East London's suburb Quigney, which is situated east of the central business district (CBD). The beach stretches along the Indian Ocean coastline and is bordered by Esplanade Road. Quigney's main thoroughfare is known for its hotels, guesthouses, and restaurants catering to beachgoers.
