Lufthansa Group: Flights between Frankfurt <> Windhoek to be operated by the new "Eurowings Discover! [update]

update (19 June 2021): Effective 20 Jun 2021, the German Government will officially downgrade Namibia as a virus variant area. Lufthansa Group's flight schedule will operate as per normal with the following conditions highlight below:

  1. Only German nationals and holders of a German resident permit are allowed to enter Germany.
  2. Transit via Germany to any Schengen destination is only permitted for German nationals and holders of a German resident permit.
  3. All passengers mentioned in point 1 and 2 must hold a negative COVID-19 test result at time of departure, not older than 72 hours from the planned arrival in Germany, (exception Antigen-tests: 24 hours) and must register online under following link: https://www.einreiseanmeldung.de/
  4. Transit to any Non-Schengen destination (exception China) is permitted for all nationalities.
  5. All passengers must observe local quarantine regulations. Detailed information can be found under following links: https://lufthansa.travel-regulations.com/?language=en and www.lufthansa.com/de/en/flight-information

The Lufthansa Group has announced that it will continue to operate five weekly flights to and from Windhoek throughout 2021 and that it will move its flight operations between Germany and Namibia from Eurowings to the new leisure brand Eurowings Discover from the beginning of August 2021. Until the end of May 2021, Eurowing's existing flight schedule to and from Windhoek shall remain unchanged. From the beginning of June 2021 until the end of July 2021, flights between Frankfurt and Windhoek will be serviced by Lufthansa. During these two month, flights between Windhoek and Frankfurt will be operated during the night. Thereafter, from August 2021, the Lufthansa Group will move all fight operations to and from Windhoek under its new Eurowings Discover brand and will continue operating five weekly flights between Windhoek and Frankfurt with an evening departure from Namibia's capital.

Namibia: Eurowings to return to Namibia!

German budget carrier Eurowings, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, has announced the return to Namibia. Effective 19 September 2020, the airline will offer three weekly flights between Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in Frankfurt and Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH) in Windhoek. Flights between to Windhoek will be operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while the return fligtht to Frankfurt will be on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Namibia: Eurowings is planning to resume flights between Frankfurt <> Windhoek! [update]

update (12 Juni 2020): According to routesonline, planned Eurowings service on Frankfurt <> Windhoek route has been removed from its listing.>

update (09 June 2020): We contacted Eurowings regarding the resumption of flights between Frankfurt and Windhoek. According to the social media team of Eurowings, they do not have any information reqarding our inquiry at this point. We'll keep you posted!

According to aviation specialists routesonline, German low-cost airline Eurowings is planning to resume scheduled flights between Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in Frankfurt, Germany, and Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH) in Windhoek, Namibia. Effective 30 June 2020, the airline will operate three weekly return flights on board an Airbus A330-200 aircraft to Namibia's capital. 


NB. We just checked Eurowings booking engine on the airline's website. As of today, no flights between
Frankfurt and Windhoek are available to book from 30 June 2020 onwards. We'll keep you posted!

Eurowings to launch flights between Frankfurt <> Windhoek! [update]

update (24 June 2019): Eurowings is set to launch flights between Frankfurt and Windhoek on 29 October 2019.

German low-cost airline Eurowings, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, is set to launch scheduled services between Frankfurt am Main Airport (FRA) in Frankfurt, Germany, and Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH) in Windhoek, Namibia, in October 2019. The airline is planning to operate three weekly flights on board an Airbus 330 with a Lufthansa flight number on the new route. All flights will be available for bookings as of 13 March 2019.

Eurowings has launched a new service between Munich <> Windhoek!

German carrier Eurowings, a fully owned subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, has launched a new service between Munich Airport (MUC) in Munich and Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH) in Windhoek on 07 May 2018. The airline initially operates one weekly return flight to Namibia's capital on Mondays/Tuesdays and might increase the frequency to two weekly flights in the near future (July 2018?).

Eurowings to suspend flights between Munich <> Cape Town!

German carrier Eurowings, a fully owned subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, will not only suspend its service between Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN) and Cape Town International Airport (CPT) in Cape Town, but also between Munich Airport (MUC) in Munich and Cape Town. The airline will terminate the service in October 2018. According to a Eurowings spokesperson, the arline will resume flights to Cape Town in the future, but has no immediate plans.

Eurowings to suspend flights between Cologne <> Cape Town!

German carrier Eurowings, a fully owned subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, is set to relocate all long-haul routes currently operated from Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN), which serves the cities of Cologne and Bonn in Western Germany, to Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) in Düsseldorf in October 2018, and will therefore suspend its service between Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN) and Cape Town International Airport (CPT) in Cape Town at the end of October 2018. As of now, Eurowings has no immediate plans to introduce flights between Düsseldorf and Cape Town. We'll keep you posted!

Eurowings to suspend flights between Cologne <> Windhoek!

German carrier Eurowings just confirmed on twitter (also see this tweet) that the airline will suspend its service between Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN), which serves the cities of Cologne and Bonn in Western Germany, and Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH) in Windhoek at the end of October 2018. The airline will instead launch flights between Munich Airport (MUC) in Munich and Windhoek on 07 May 2018.

Eurowings to launch flights between Cologne Bonn Airport <> Cape Town!

German low-cost airline Eurowings, a fully owned subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, is set to launch a seasonal service to South Africa. Effective 05 November 2017, the airline will operate one weekly flight between Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN), which serves the cities of Cologne and Bonn in Western Germany, and Cape Town International Airport (CPT) in Cape Town. The seasonal service will end on 19 (26?) March 2017.
