SANParks released a storm recovery update for Table Mountain National Park's Tokai Area.
The Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) Fire Department, in partnership with NCC Wildfires, assisted rangers with the removal of hazardous trees in Tokai Manor and Lower Tokai. This forms part of the ongoing rehabilitation efforts following the recent storm.
Silvermine Notice:
Please note that the Riverwalk hiking trail, from the Silvermine Gate 1 pay point to the dam, is currently closed due to fallen trees obstructing the route, as well as several damaged boardwalk requiring maintenance.
Repair work is scheduled to begin next week.

Ranger teams at Table Mountain National Park are continuing with storm damage assessments across the Park following the recent adverse weather conditions.
Update:
- The Forest Link Walkway at Boulders Penguin Colony is now open to the public.
Affected Areas:
- Glencairn: A fallen tree has been reported, which damaged the Youth Camp fence.
- Tokai: Several fallen branches have been identified along Tokai Road. The picnic bridge remains flooded.
- Silvermine: Rangers are still conducting assessments in this area.
- Rangers based in Newlands Forest, together with the NCC team, clearing a fallen tree in Orangekloof.
Table Mountain National Park management requests that all Park users exercise caution, adhere to closures, and wait for favourable weather conditions before accessing the Park for recreational activities.

Travellers planning outdoor activities, scenic drives or hikes in and around the city are advised to check conditions carefully before setting out, as heavy rain, flooding, fallen trees and dangerous trail conditions are impacting visitor access in multiple areas.
According to SANParks, the following sites and trails are currently temporarily closed for visitor safety:
- Forest Link walkway at Boulders Penguin Colony
- Oudekraal Picnic Site
- Lion's Head summit
- Signal Hill precinct
- Deer Park trails
- Newlands Picnic Site
- Cecilia Forest trails
- Constantia Nek trails
- Tokai picnic sites
- Upper and lower Tokai trail networks
SANParks response teams are currently attending to storm-related damage and hazards across Table Mountain National Park, including fallen trees and branches, flooding, unstable pathways, dangerous trail conditions and wildlife monitoring operations where necessary.
Visitors are strongly encouraged to avoid unnecessary hiking or travel within affected areas until conditions improve. Extra caution is advised near rivers, streams, mountain paths, coastal sections and low-lying areas, where slippery terrain and storm debris continue to pose risks. Travellers should also follow all official safety signage and instructions issued by Table Mountain National Park authorities while weather conditions remain unstable.
