South Africa: Civil Aviation Authority to increase passenger safety charge

The South African Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has updated the passenger safety charge, effective 01 August 2011, for both domestic and international travel. The tax is levied on all passengers departing on domestic and/or international flights from South African airports. The changes are as follows:
  • International departures from all South African airports: R12 > R18
  • Domestic departures from all South African airports: R12 > R18

    I checked further update of this subject. I think it is necessary to increase passengers safety charges. Everybody would hope aviation authority would be take it seriously.
